Windsurfing: Felixstowe Fludyers Wind Direction: WSW Wind Stength: F5/6 Surf / Sea State: rough Air Temperature: warmish Sea Temperature: cool Weather: ok some sun Max Speed: 0 Distance Covered: 0
Been reading the blogs about great sailings so had itchy feet having missed
most of it, not sailed since Oct. This was another of my shit decisions.
Arrive 11 ish and it wasn't that windy. 7 out, Ian Maker Squiz Strawbs Pete
C Andy M Chris P me. Sea looked rough. Part rigged 7.3 then the wind came
back so rigged 6.7 Hellcat with 125 Hawk and a stiff slalom 42 fin. That
was just about the worst kit that could be used in the rough water! I flew
off the beach, which didn't seem that windy, but it was a good force
further out! Pete had warned me to flatten the sail, but I didn't bother. I
dare not bare off and wiped out for the first turn. It took several
attempts to water start and not get throw over the top.
Regretfully my windsurf fitness was just not good enough for conditions and
the kit was set up for good speed, which was totally wrong for the
conditions. Called it a day. I must admit as the tide turned the sea
flattened off and the wind eased. I should have sailed then as Steve and
Pete were sailing well Maker Ian etc had a good day, and it was warm.
Couldn't be bothered so Packed up and went for a nice spa and wondered why
the fcuk I went windsurfing today! Need some flat water sailing to get my
fitness back, and as I am not going El Medano this year could be last sail
this year?
